Michaela was more than just a beautiful girl. She had amazing depth of character and love in her heart. She was a good girl with so much to live for. She loved her life and had plenty of hopes and dreams. Michaela was determined to accomplish all of her goals. She loved her friends and family, but most importantly she loved God.
Michaela had the brightest smile and kindest heart. Her heart was gold and she was so generous with her love. Michaela always found a way to make people feel good with a compliment, a hug or a smile. Michaela loved everyone and always saw the good in people. Her big beautiful brown eyes did not judge anyone and her smile lit up the room. She made friends easily because she always laughed and joked around. She was a joy to everyone that knew her.
Michaela loved to scrapbook and do crafts. She spent lots of time just being happy at home with her family in comfortable clothes. She also loved to shop, hang out with friends and take pictures, listen to music of all kinds, and dance. Who ever knew Michaela well enough knows, with her there was never a dull moment.
Michaela had a stable and loving home with caring parents and two fun-loving, little brothers. Overall, she came from a big extended family where love and support was easy to find.
Michaela had so many friends that she adored but her best friend was Naomi Rivas. Summer 2009 was supposed to be amazing for the two. Life was so promising for them.
On April 19, 2009, our precious girl was killed by a reckless driver that she had trusted to give her a ride. Even though it was not her time, God welcomed her with open arms and Heaven is so much sweeter now because of her.
She has left her legacy here on Earth by inspiring people to grow closer to God.
A therapist in Orange County has been so touched by her story that he dedicated a room in his office to help babies who are drug addicted or medically fragile. He said they need an angel to watch over them.
A memorial scholarship fund has also been created to help other students attend Notre Dame High School where Michaela attended. The school has honored her by making T-Shirts with her quote βKEEP YOUR HEARTβ and wearing bracelets in cheetah print with her name.
Although our hearts ache and we miss her so much we were blessed to have 16 wonderful years with Michaela. Her family and true friends remain connected forever and we look forward to one day holding her tight when we meet her in Heaven.
Michaela, the girl with a big smile and even a bigger heart will never be forgotten.

It’s Easter time in heaven
Christ sits upon the throne
His faithful sheep are gathered 'round
This palace made of stone.
A rugged cross comes into view
Beyond the crystal sea
A sun-filled room, an empty tomb
A spectacle to see.
In heaven, God reminds us
The reason we are there
How Jesus hung upon the cross
Our burdens, He did bear.
In paradise, on Easter
As far as one can see
Are scenes of Easter long ago
And how this came to be.
